The Days of You

Privacy

What we know about you, and what we do with it.

The Days of You is published by Fact and Story Ltd, a company registered in England, number 8644144, at Greenleigh Holt, Chew Magna, Bristol BS40 8QR. We are the data controller for this site. This notice says what we collect, why, who else sees it, how long we keep it and what you can ask of us. Last changed 6 October 2026.

Looking at the site

The site sets no cookies and runs no advertising or analytics scripts. Our web server keeps an access log with the last part of your internet address removed, the page you asked for, the time, and your browser's name, so that we can count readers and find faults. That log is kept for about two years and is not used to identify anyone.

When you draw a day on the page, the date, country and town you type are sent to our server to make the picture, and the picture is kept in a cache so the same day is not drawn twice. The name you type for the cover is used only to draw it. None of this is tied to you unless you go on to order.

Ordering a book

To make and deliver a book we collect:

We use these to make the book, print and post it, send you a receipt and the tracking, answer you if you write to us, and keep the records a company must keep. The lawful basis is the contract between us for the book, and for the records, our legal obligations.

Who else sees it

We do not sell or share your details with anyone else, and we do not use them for marketing unless you ask us to write to you.

How long we keep it

The order, the files that made the book and the record of payment are kept for seven years, which covers the six years a company must keep its accounts and leaves room for a reprint if yours is damaged years from now. After that they are deleted. The cached preview pictures are deleted as newer ones arrive.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it. Write to [email protected] and we will answer within a month. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Children

Books are bought by adults. A book can be about a child aged three or more; the child's name and birth details are given to us by the adult buying the book, for the book alone.
